What are the limitations of eCommerce? You can buy clothes, shoes and even groceries online, but would you really?
Last weekend, I decided that I needed a new pair of shoes for work. I didn't really feel like going shopping. I don't think I ever feel like going shopping. So I decided to take a look online to see what I can find. I did a Google search for something like "mens shoes" or something like that, read a couple review sites and forums and finally landed on http://www.aldoshoes.com. I looked around and what caught my attention was that they offered free shipping for orders over $80.
I was open to the idea of making purchases online, since I've bought a number of items from Futureshop and Bestbuy in the past, but this was the first time I considered buying a "high touch" item online.
Long story short, I bought a pair of loafers called "Vic". Not only were they on sale and looked good, what sold me on this pair of shoes was that it had my name in it!
My order was delivered a week later and if you were wondering, the shoes do fit quite well and when the UPS guy delivered my shoes, it felt like opening a present. : )

Time for Change
I can't wait until I have time to redesign my website and blog. But one step at a time. Right now I'm focusing on some of my social networks. If you use Twitter, follow me @victor_chan
On a side note, have you ever seen a running pear? I haven't either, but my friend is training for a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. She has a very cool blog going, check it out when you have time. http://therunningpear.blogspot.com/
Take it easy!

Cool Website - Wired Santa - Live from the North Pole
Hey all,
It's been a while since I made a post. Things have been a little busy so I haven't had the time. I'm just taking a quick moment to let you in on a new website that is great for kids...especially at this time of the year.
The website is at http://www.wiredsanta.com. It is a website that shows daily videos of Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and the elves at the North Pole, as they are preparing for Christmas. There's a new video posted everyday.
There's also an area where kids can send a letter to Santa and another area where you can download Christmas music. All for Free!
Check it out and let me know if you like the site.

A First for Everything...
I don't know how else to put it, but I killed something yesterday while driving in my car. I keep imagining the situation over and over again. Could I have stopped in time? Could I have done something else? No, it is what it is.
So what did I kill? A stupid crow sitting in the middle of the road. I called it a stupid crow because normally, birds fly away as a car or anyone approaches. But not this time. I was driving forward, expecting it to fly away at any second, but no, it just sat there. I tried to break, but I wasn't able to stop in time and that's how it happened.
Right before my car ran over it, the crow looked right into my eyes and a split second later, it was looking at the sky. I feel kind of guilty, asking myself why it had to die, but it is what it is, so all I'm left with is a sigh.
Sorry Mr. Crow...

Lost In Translation...
Yes, there are so many people at my house. My auntie and uncle from HK came over for vacation. They are probably staying for two weeks. I just found out this morning that my cousin from HK just flew over last night too. I haven't seen them for around 2 years now, so it's great to see them again. The only catch is that they only speak Cantonese and I, being the banana that I am, have quite a difficult time trying to carry on a conversation with them. When I don't know how to translate what I want to say into Cantonese, I either default to smiling and nodding or I pretty much start my sentence and then end with "I don't know how to translate" (in Cantonese, of course). I hope I survive the next 1.5 weeks...hehe.

Interesting Websites
I recently stumbled upon a website called StumbleUpon.com. This website basically adds a toolbar to your internet browser and through this toolbar, you can generate random websites on the internet based on your pre-set interests. This toolbar can be quite fun, but what really got me interested is the fact that through this toolbar, I was able to find a website that I had totally forgot about.
Many years ago, a friend (I forgot who exactly) sent me a link to this website where you can play various flash based games. This website is www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/. These games aren't the latest and best 3D games out there, but they do score off the charts for "cuteness". A great site for when you're bored (in class, j/k) or if you need a dose of "cuteness". ; )

Latest Project
My childhood friends and I are starting a new "company". The company name is Captivasian Studios and our first production is a action/comedy video. We are currently developing the storyline and working out the details. I hope we start filming it soon, but many of us are quite busy at this time. I'll definitely let you know when we release the video. If you want more information about Captivasian, visit our blog at Captivasian Studios.
